Dodgers and Fireworks

Celebrating a holiday in the middle of week is extremely hard, if you haven't noticed by now.Work a few days, you're off, then start over again. And if you're like me and have Fridays off in the summer, it's very confusing.

Is today Friday? Monday? I have no idea.

But, I digress.

Tuesday night, my parents and I went to the Dodger game, and of course stopped at one of our usual road trip stops...In-N-Out. Nothing says California quite like a burger and fries from the establishment. It's still one of my favorite places.

We made it to Dodger Stadium with plenty of time. I'll be honest. I wasn't in the most pleasant of moods when we first arrived. Crowds can bring out the worst in me, but I tried to kick it and not put a damper on everything. We found our seats, then my mom and I wandered to find churros (my new favorite thing). After walking down a few levels, we hit the motherload. I found a churro sundae, like  the ladies in front of us had been eating. It looked delicious and my eyes were much bigger than my stomach. Apparently I also thought my wallet was much bigger too from the price. But, hey, at least we walked while eating, so that's not as bad, right? I didn't even eat half of it, but it was very good.

The game had already started when we got back to our seats. It felt like a relatively quick game and the best part? The Dodgers won! We laughed, we chatted, we watched the game (obviously) and observed those in the area around us. The kids were a hoot and always keep it entertaining.

I love Dodger games and LA. It was one of those nights where anything you want to happen is within reach. It makes you believe in the beauty of dreams again. Or maybe Los Angeles just has that affect on me. After the game ended, they prepared the field for fireworks.

I know many people aren't a fan of fireworks, but I LOVE them, at least when done correctly. It makes me feel like a kid as I sit in wonder as they fly through the sky. Like for a few minutes, we can all just get along and forget the worries of the world.

As soon as the fireworks were over, we went straight to the car, while admiring the gorgeous LA skyline. I've fallen in love with many cities over the years, but LA was still my first love and seeing those downtown LA buildings is like love at first sight all over again.

It was almost 11 p.m., and we still had a long drive ahead of us. We stopped at Jack in the Box, because on these day trips, we like to eat a lot. And then I fell asleep not long after. It was around 1 or so when we got home and it felt so good to get in bed. All in all, a fun afternoon and probably our last Dodger game for the season. Boo :(

While most people were throwing parties and watching grand fireworks displays for the Fourth of July, yesterday, ours was very low key. I thought we were going to invite the family over, like we usually do, but it ended up being not too eventful. A couple friends invited me over, but I wasn't feeling too social unfortunately. I went on a walk with my dad, took my time getting ready, finished a book, had lunch with my parents, went to Target... And stayed home. We watched the firework specials on TV, while trying to calm our dog down from all of the crazy noises in our own neighborhood. I was in my pajamas by 9, and from the sounds of it, a lot of people turned in earlier, too. Again, the joys of a holiday being right in the middle of the week.  *sigh*

More adventures are soon to come, so it was nice having a day to do nothing!

That's all for now,
Shelby
