First week of summer

And just like that...It's the summer of 2025.

I've been keeping this "journal" for a few years to record my summer adventures and fun along the way.

Every year, when summertime rolls around, I get those butterflies in my stomach. You know, like you do when you're on an airplane when it takes off for your next vacation. Or just before the curtain comes up, sitting in your seat at a concert before your favorite artists appears from the center of the stage. Or when you're on a boat, out in the middle of the ocean and it dips a certain way that makes you feel like you're flying.

We are officially on the summer schedule at work - 10 hour days (Monday-Thursday), then off on Fridays.

So, of course I've gone into planning mode of writing out my "summer bucket lists," thinking of all the things I want to do.

  1. Bake homemade poptarts
  2. Take a solo trip
  3. Go to the beach, at least once
  4. Try new restaurants in town
  5. Movie nights (watch JAWS, since it's the 50th anniversary)
  6. Go to the salon - Get my nails and hair done (that's something I never do anymore, so it's a treat)
  7. Spend a day at the lake
  8. Take a boat ride on the ocean at sunset
  9. Continue creating and connecting with others
  10. Girls trips and hangouts
  11. Put my phone away more to be present and look around more
  12. Spend nights looking up at the stars + late night conversations with friends
  13. Actually reading what's in my TBR pile
  14. Get out to an event to network
  15. Drive around town with a playlist, watching the sunsets
  16. Coffee dates with friends
I know how fast these summers go, and I always want to hold on just a little bit longer. The sunsets. The drives at night, listening to country music. The nights curled up in bed, reading just "one more chapter" because it's so good and I can't put it down. It's the tartness of the lemonade on a warm evening. It's the blockbuster movies you've anxiously awaited to see, meeting with your friends, early on a morning when you all can agree on a time. It's road trips and concerts and new experiences you didn't see coming.

I'm excited to see where the summer takes us and to write a new chapter for the 2025 summer season.

Come along for the ride!

That's all for now,
Shelby
