Staff Retreat and Relaxation
Every year my office does some sort of training/retreat. This year, we went to one of our local event spots for a day of conversation and team building exercises. Throughout the year, we're all so busy with projects and deadlines that we don't always get a chance to be in the same room at the same time. It was nice to laugh and joke a little more on the personal side. We forget that we're all just people too outside of our roles.
After, we went over to our boss' house for an end-of-the-year party to celebrate. We ate tacos, shared stories and photos about our summer trips and talked about fun things, instead of just work and tasks. We also celebrated my work mom since it was her birthday. Again, it was fun just being outside of the office and not feeling like you have a million other things to do.
That kicked off my weekend. I came home - talked to my aunt on the phone for awhile, packed for my upcoming trip, made myself some tea and watched "Chuck" before falling asleep.
Friday, my internal clock woke me up before 7 a.m., but I stayed in bed for awhile and took my time getting ready; made my coffee and watched "Today," which is one of my favorite things to do when I don't have any plans early in the morning. Then later on, I met up for lunch with one of my best friends to discuss plans for our next trip on Wednesday and book our hotel. We caught up for a bit, then I spent the rest of the afternoon watching "Grey's Anatomy."
I haven't just sat around and done nothing in awhile. I've been on the go, so it was nice to not have to work on a side project or rush anywhere. I could just sit and journal, read, watch TV and chill for a bit.
That's all for now,
Shelby
