festive s'mores, book haul, rockets in the sky and Travis Kelce

After the week that just finished, I was ready for the weekend, even if I'd only worked three days this week. Emotionally, it was a lot.

There were no projects or classes to finish and was able to read to my heart's content. I finished one book I'd started earlier in the week, we had waffles and bacon (which sounded good the night before) and listened to the top 40 countdown from the 70's with Casey Kasem. My dad loves doing that, so it's become a thing I look forward to now! I also got puppy snuggles which is the best way to start off a day.

I got ready and for the first time in awhile was actually looking forward to going out and doing something, rather than dreading it like I have been the past couple months (or longer).

I had lunch at Mexicali with my parents, then we went to Target. Walking around the store was a terrible idea. I picked up a lot of great stuff: four new books, a journal, pens, tape for my toe and some other random things we needed. By the time we finished, I was so wiped out and was ready to crawl to the car. Ugh. We went home from there, where I rested my foot, elevated it and iced it.

I started reading The Bright Spot by Jill Shalvis, kind of a Hallmark-esque book that looked cute and was a new author I'd never read before. I rested my foot, we lounged around. Nothing too crazy! We also snacked on s'mores. I bought red and blue marshmallows and the new Firecracker Hershey bars that are Fourth of July themed. I thought it was a fun, festive treat leading up to Independence Day.

We'd planned on going to Chick-Fil-A, but ended up not going anywhere, since we'd eaten a big lunch much later in the day. I've been craving it all week and didn't get to go any other time. *sigh* Maybe next week will finally be my time.

Sunday was also laid back. My parents went to church and I hung out at home. They brought me Chilli's for lunch and I spent the afternoon...What else? Reading. And I napped for a couple hours. There's nothing like a Sunday nap. Who'd have thought?

I think just after waking up from my nap, I found out that Travis Kelce was on stage with Taylor Swift during her Eras Tour show in London. I could not believe it! But, it was all over Twitter from just about every angle. They both looked so happy.  I watched all the videos and scrolled through countless photos.

That night, there was supposed to be a rocket launched from Space X, so my dad and I went outside to watch for it. We did it last time and it took a minute or two before it got to us. Then a speck of red popped out of nowhere and flew across the sky, leaving a trail behind. It was in our eyesight, probably, for about 2-3 minutes which was much better than the last time. Such a neat experience! I joked with my dad that it was a real "Wonder Years" moment.

We have three-day weekends but they still go by so fast. Here we are for another work week!

That's all for now,

Shelby
