Summer movies, a broken toe and Amazon packages

If you can't go on vacation, it's always fun to at least read books where trips are incorporated and watch movies with a dysfunctional family (like the Griswold's or something along those lines).

So I've done a lot of that. I've ordered a lot of books based in Italy, of course, and other summer romance type stories. We all need something a little more fun and light-hearted right now.

I also decided to make a list of summer movies to watch over the next few weeks:

  • Cheaper by the Dozen 2
  • Mamma Mia
  • Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again
  • Dan in Real Life
  • Monte Carlo
  • Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
  • Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2
  • Now and Then
  • Beaches
  • Under the Tuscan Sun
  • 500 Days of Summer
  • Letters to Juliet
  • RV
  • We're the Millers
  • Vacation
  • The Lizzie McGuire Movie
  • Freaky Friday
  • Jaws
  • The Music Man
  • Top Gun

I was off on Wednesday and felt nauseous for most of it. Mom wasn't feeling the best either. So much for having the day off. We didn't do anything!

I spent a lot of the day watching movies: Cheaper by the Dozen 2, Alexander & The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Freaky Friday and started watching The Lizzie McGuire Movie. I also tried to tap into my creativity with collages and journaling, which is always fun for me.

Well, then I got the bright idea to go take a shower and managed to bend my toe back. It didn't really hurt so much as I didn't exactly know what happened. I know my toe was snagged and then I just went down. And then the pain came...It knocked the wind out of me so hard.  I just immediately went down and fell to my knees. I thought I'd tripped over books. But, when I looked later, it might have gotten caught on a shoe heel and twisted it just right. As soon as I looked down at my toe and it was bent to the right in an unnatural way, I think I started panicking. I felt so nauseous, was sweating and thought sure I was going to pass out. I threw up, chugged water and sat down. I got ice on it and elevated it. I wasn't sure that I wanted to go sit and wait for hours in the ER/Urgent Care, so I decided I'd watch it for the next few days and go from there. It swelled up, and turned black and blue almost immediately. Not just on the toe itself but also on the right half of my foot.

Needless to say, I worked from home the next day and took it very easy the rest of the week. Curled up on the couch with my books and my iPad. So, really not all that different than any other day, I guess?

The highlight of my week was waiting for Amazon packages and other deliveries to give me something to look forward to, like some gadgets, knick knacks and Colleen Hoover's Olive & June nail polish set.

So, on Friday, I unwrapped my boxes like it was Christmas and painted my nails, read...The usual. Trying not to put pressure on my foot, rotating with the ice and elevating.

What a week. I'll keep an eye on the toe and see if I need to go in if it doesn't get any better.

That's all for now,

Shelby
