The mundane moments, a new season of Bridgerton + Father's Day

The in-between moments of summer are often pretty mundane. You have 10-hour work days, Fridays off and a lot of time at home (or at least staying indoors) because it's so hot out there.

I've spent a lot of time at home, reading, sitting on the couch, trying to do some brainstorming for creative projects and such. I caught up on Bridgerton (because I stopped watching after the first season),  have listened to music, I've watched a lot of clips from the Eras Tour as I follow along with the Twitterverse from the latest dates in Europe. I've also taken some time to dedicate to learning Italian on Duolingo, which has been so satisfying and fun.

There were plenty of coffee moments, especially driving through Starbucks in the morning before work, shopping (online and making an effort to go in store). I've been working on becoming certified with Meta

But, eventually, I know when it's time to become more social. Thankfully, one of my best friends decided to have a viewing party for the Bridgerton season 3 part two premiere. A couple of her friends were supposed to join, but only one made it. We ate pizza and popcorn, gushed about the characters, analyzed their behaviors and shrieked at new developments. So fun, and absolutely needed after the long, hot days around here.

But, when another Friday rolled around, I knew I had to go out again. Even if it was just something simple like treating myself to coffee and going for a drive. So, that's what I did. I went to Starbucks, picked up (yet another) Target order and went for a drive. In my head, I already knew where I was going to end up...Which was the cemetery where my grandma is buried. She died in 2009 when I was just about to enter my senior year of high school.

I put on a moody playlist because I was just all in my feels about everything throughout the week and it just seemed like the thing to do. I don't go often. I hadn't been to the cemetery since 2009, until last summer. On a whim one Sunday afternoon, I decided to take a drive out there. And it was the same way on this particular Friday for whatever reason. I guess as things continue to change in my life and around me, everyone getting older in the family and more milestones taking place, I find myself thinking more about my grandparents. All the things I missed out on, all the questions I wish I would have thought to ask, but I was so young when my mom's parents died. Somehow, there are moments when it's still hard and I just can't wrap my mind around it. I guess I tend to miss them more when I have more questions in my own life. But, I find that I walk away with more questions or know that I won't find what I'm looking for, but go anyway praying for some kind of revelation. It's nice and peaceful out there, but that day was busier with

The rest of the afternoon was spent at home, just reading, watching TV and hanging out. Then, the Bark Box for my dog came in. It turns out, it was Nashville-themed this month, so that was obnoxiously exciting for me. I was actually probably more into it than Rory was, LOL. My mom and I spent most of the afternoon pulling out the snacks and toys and trying to get Rory hyped about it. It took her a minute or two, but she eventually came around to it and started chewing on the cowboy hat and was more intrigued with the items in the box.

The rest of the weekend was spent at home - I focused on my Italian lessons on Duolingo and my mom and I got into a new show, a cooking challenge called Ciao House. They go to different places in Italy each season (well, all two of them, so far), live in an Italian villa and have various cooking challenges each week, working on teams - The winner will get a chance to travel around and learn from some of the best chefs in the world. As you can tell, I'm fascinated by the Italian culture and want to find out about all the things.

Sunday was Father's Day. I had to wake up a little earlier, but still made time for my coffee and taking my time to get ready. I even had a few minutes to just sit down before we had to leave.

I went to church with my parents, then we had lunch at Hungry Hunter. These holidays are pretty low-key nowadays, but it was nice just being able to have the three of us there. I was super excited to wear one of my new dresses and shoes, too.

And, of course, we had to get our obligatory holiday photo -- Memories, you know?

It was a pretty low-key afternoon and night. There were naps, hanging out and my dad's weekly Facetime with his bros in different states. Fun times!

Another weekend gone, time for the week ahead.

That's all for now,

Shelby
