Bits 'O Summer
There's been a lot of Netflix watching, pop tart eating, murder documentary watching, re-reading "It Ends with Us" in time to see the movie and lounging on the couch in my pjs. I don't hate it! I've also been doing some creative things on my new laptop which I'm obsessed with.
But, overall this week has been a hard one. Sunday morning, a family friend texted that her dad passed away earlier that morning. It came as a shock because he hadn't been sick and I'd just seen him a couple months before at her wedding. It truly just goes to show you how precious this one life we get is.
Monday, Athena and I went to a matinee showing of "It Ends with Us." We'd read the book around the same time and had been anxiously awaiting its arrival in the movie theaters. So, we went on a Monday afternoon, and it was busier than we anticipated. I was especially interested to see it after the chaos and media frenzy with Blake Lively's press tour and the bashing of Justin Baldoni in the press.
We dressed up in our florals. Yes, I do understand the weight of the book and the issues but I also always found that the floral aspect was a symbol of hope through it all. I'd painted my nails with the Colleen Hoover nail polish. Athena had all the snacks and we wasted no time diving right in.
Overall, I think they did a great job with the movie. I think everyone carried their parts well, they addressed the domestic violence with care and respect and it followed pretty closely along with the book except for a few minor things. Thankfully, having just read the book, I was able to have an idea when things were going to get a bit rough. But, while I think it was well-done with its cinematography, acting, soundtrack and so on, it's also very heavy. It's not something you'll watch over and over again.
The rest of the week went by fairly quickly since I decided to take tomorrow, Thursday, off (and I already had Friday off - the last one for this year). I tried to get as much planning and work done ahead of time so I could just enjoy my last hurrah of the summer!
Here's to the weekend!
That's all for now,
Shelby
